BBC website

BBC
Page layout:
• Latest World Cup news and views, replacing convensional means of finding information such as bewspaper of radio.
• Watch Freddie's apology
• Mobile: Scores on the move
• Full details of BBC coverage- these are easy to navigate and would be simple to use for all audiences. it gives access to other topics and is brightly coloured using pictures to make the page asthetically pleasing.

there is a list of a large range of genres for the viewer to look at, so there is something for all audiences, not just for niche audiences.

News, sport, TV, radio.

• To get information for shows, news or weather, people used to read newspapers or have to look on the TV and TV guides to find out the info. Now all people have to do is go on the BBC website and check information out through the relevant links. non-linear, convenient.
• It is fast and cheap with broadband.
• It is colourful and appealing.
• Non-linear.
What’s new??
• What’s cool??

• Allows you to locate yourself then check the weather for the next week. (non-linear)
• Watch recent matches in football and other sports. (if you missed them, gives more possibility)
Radio
• Shows all their radio stations, allow you to click on the link and be transported there.
• They also have little box icons at the bottom of the page with pictures of technologies such as ‘internet’ and ‘mobile phone’ and it is labelled as ‘how to listen'. When you click on the icon you are sent to a radio via the internet site.
• There is ‘about BBC radio.
• What’s hot?

• Arts & Drama
• Children's
• Comedy & Quizzes
• Entertainment
• Factual
• History
• News & Curr't Affairs
• Religion & Ethics
• Science
• Soap
• Sport
• Listen to live. Sports extra cricket.
• International and UK version.

Audiences
• Has cbeebies so has to accommodate for younger years (however only if they know how to use a computer). it also has little animations flying all over teh page which is soooooooooo cutE!!!
• Teenagers with new music and sports for boys.
• Adults and sports fans.
• Not really old people, but they certainly could read most of the website because it uses big flashing icons, colours and large clear text.

institutions
the institute benefiting from this website is obviously the BBC but other companies sich as ipod can advertise on the homepage. this brings in money because the BBC knows lots of people view the webpage and so the advertisment spaces will be very popular, thus they can make more money from boosting theur prices on advertisement.

This study will be good to use for interactivity as the person can choose what they want and when they want in a non-linear fashion. They can have their information text to them via phone, or go onto the website to find it themselves.
